Moon landing a hoax?

People have joked about that being a hoax since the day... But I can vouch for you guys, that shuttle thingy they shoot off from Canaveral, it goes into space, I've seen it.;) Just an evidence to help draw a conclusion.

<<So the astronauts achieved this feet without being able to see what they were doing.>>

And with sentences like that in the hoax theorist's grand scheme, you have to question credibility.

<< * A camera panned upwards to catch Apollo 16's Lunar Lander lifting off the Moon. Who did the filming? >>

According to the HBO documentary, from the Earth to the Moon, this was controlled from the ground. Because of the time delay, the controller had to begin the tilt prior to the liftoff (by a few seconds).

<< * One NASA picture from Apollo 11 is looking up at Neil Armstrong about to take his giant step for mankind. The photographer must have been lying on the planet surface. If Armstrong was the first man on the Moon, then who took the shot? >>

This was a camera that was deployed off the leg of the lunar lander, again according to the above HBO series.

<< Apollo 14 astronaut Allen Shepard played golf on the Moon. In front of a worldwide TV audience, Mission Control teased him about slicing the ball to the right. Yet a slice is caused by uneven air flow over the ball. The Moon has no atmosphere and no air. >>

I could be wrong, but I dont think that a slice is caused by air. Its caused by the face of the club hitting the ball at some angle that causes the ball to not leave the face of the club straight.

<< "How can the flag be fluttering," the 47 year old American kept asking himself, "when there's no wind on the atmosphere free Moon?" >>

Could solar wind not affect the surface of the moon if there is no atmosphere to protect it.

I'm sure many of these questions can be answered. I don not believe that the moon landing was a hoax. Have they not recently sent a second ship to the surface of the moon (I thought they had)?

I believe it was a hoax. Of course, I can't say that out loud in front of my kids anymore after I was banned from any further parent/teacher conferences when my son argued with the teacher about the moon landing and I finished her off later that afternoon declaring the world was flat.

I don't think it was a hoax.

But there are some interesting aspects to it.

For example, there is a very famous picture of a close up of
on one of the spaceman's helmet/face mask.

In the face mask, you can see the reflection of 3 spacemen standing on the moon
So logic would have it that there was at least 4 spacemen on the moon at that moment.

But there have never been more than 3 spacemen on the moon's surface at any one time.

BTW: I like referring to them as "spacemen"...sounds funny.

I have often wondered if the entire Apollo program and moon landings were just a hoax. A hoax to bolster pride in the USA.

My stepfather even worked for Boeing on the first stage of the Saturn V during that time. He knew all of the astronauts, the flight director - Gene Krantz and Dr. Werner von Braun. He swears they went. When we lived in FL, he would bring home mission patches and all kinds of souveniers. Autographed pictures from the astronauts and everything.

While I don't doubt they went into space, I wonder sometimes if they actually made it to the moon. Indeed it makes one wonder about the movie Capricorn One.

For many years, Neil Armstrong wouldn't give interviews. Then on the 25th anniversary of the moon landing in 1994, Armstrong gives a rare interview and makes an appearance at NASA. Like the second or third one in 25 years he has done something such as that. Disgruntled employee maybe?

In contrast, during the entire quarter century, Buzz Aldrin was very descriptive about the Apollo 11 mission.

What would we have to gain by faking the landing on the moon?

our telescopes are powerful enough to see the surface of the moon right? (they'd better be if we can see other planets)

just take a close up pic of where the american flag is supposed to be. (we always see the same side of the moon)

I wonder if the Hubble telescope could photograph the remnants of the lunar landings on the moon?

403: I don't think there were more than two astronauts on the moon at any given time. The lunar module could only seat two, if memory serves me correctly. I may be wrong.

And if I'm not mistaken, all of the live lunar coverage was at night in those days. I remember watching when Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon. On high technology black and white television - ;).

It makes me wonder. Although there was one awesome photograph with the earth in the foreground of an astronaut. I doubt they could have duplicated that in such great detail back then. Who knows............

I'm just wondering how that lunar lander can lift off from the moon. Sure, gravity is weaker, but that thing doesn't look like it can acheive escape velocity of anything.

the reason they would fake it is simple:

They were in a race. They had alot of pressure to perform. The so called "best" president of hte United States started this, got assinated and now the whole world expects that by the end of the 60's there would be a man on hte moon. Failure to meet that goal, and god forbid allow a RUSSIAN to step on the moon first would be a MASSIVE blow to the entire american space administration, and a slap in the face to the rest of world. It whould show that the US didnt have what it takes, and couldnt walk the walk so to speak.

If they had to fake it, they could have, given enough time to prepare.

So NASA decided to also cause an explosion aboard Apollo 13, just to make themselves look incompetent? If you're going to fake something, atleast try not to make yourself look stupid along the way. :p

Well, I wasn't around for Apollo, but I do believe that the laser reflectors placed on the moon are still in use today, even by people in academia. Perhaps one could ask them, since they are a third party and independent. Of course, none of the people who come up with these hoax ideas will look into it. :p

I guess we'll all really know the answer in 100 years when people routinely take vacations to the moon. :)

Capricorn One is a great movie.

<< Six claim to have made it, with the ill fated Apollo 13 - whose oxygen tanks apparently exploded halfway - being the only casualties >>

Apollo 13 had no casualties just a technical problem that caused them to return without landing. It was Apollo 1 that had the casualties and it burned on the laucnh pad.

I am foolish for even posting to this thread, but...

Let's see. If it was a hoax, that means the Russians would have had to go along with it. After all, they wouldn't have wanted the US to look foolish, would they?

I think some of you have watched the JFK film one too many times.

<< think some of you have watched the JFK film one too many times >>

Which makes me think:

If the moon landings were a hoax, why hasn't Oliver Stone done a movie about it?

Get this straight you losers.
The USA has never landed on the moon.
The Holocast never happened.
There are aliens among us.
But most importantly - Elvis is alive.

<< The pressure inside a space suit was greater than inside a football. The astronauts should have been puffed out like the Michelin Man, but were seen freely bending their joints. >>

Huh? Actually, it would be exactly the opposite. If the pressure was greater, then their bodies would have been under pressure - not "puffing out like the Michelin Man"...these guys need to get their facts straight before arrogantly making false points...

IronMike, you might start a flame war, by saying that the Holocaust didn't happen.
If you think it didn't happen, then explain it to me why it didn't. I will appreciately read and listen to your explanation. :)

BTW, moon landing is a hoax. Look closely to the pictures. You won't even find any stars in the background. :)
