Does anyone have a recommendation for a prepaid SIM card. Going there for the weekend and I have the feeling sprint won't work there and I will charged a ton for roaming.

I know we have virgin and tmobile for 30/month unlimited. Does Canada have a similar service pricing? I was going to buy a cheap iPhone from Craigslist to use over there

Thanks

Probably just texting. Data would be nice but if it pricey I don't need it. Phone calls will be at a minimum.

I've never bought a SIM in another country, I find its easier to buy a roaming pack from my provider, for like 10-15 bucks I get a small allocation of minute and texts, and then can continue using my own phone.
If you want to try it up here though, these guys' sims are on for $5 right now then you can tack on a little bit of service.
Or walk into a 7-11 or something once you're there and get one of those prepaid phones, $50 gets the phone and a little bit of service. Doubt you could sell the phone for much after though.

BTW, if it's just for a weekend, you're probably better off just roaming... What phone do you have on Sprint?

The three big cell companies (Bell, Rogers, Telus) have a value brand that does prepaid. All the networks are 3G/LTE, same frequencies as ATT in the US I think. Rogers also has 2G GSM, not sure if Bell/Telus still have their CDMA network.

LTE frequencies are not the same as AT&T's. That's why the Nexus 4 works on LTE in Canada but nowhere in the US.

Roaming.
I was bored, and curious what US pays for roaming. That's downright reasonable! Free texts, roaming even, it looks like?

Yes, you're right, sorry about that.

Canadian LTE is 1700/2100 while AT&T LTE is on 700 Mhz. (they might use 1700/2100 in the future??)

My iPhone 5 supports all of those frequencies, that's why I assumed they were the same.
