Monthly charge increases if I change my cell number

I'm trying to change my cell number from a NJ area code (973) to a Baltimore, MD area code (410). I currently have two shared lines on my plan, 450 anytime, for $39.99 + $9.99 for the additional line. I tried to call to get my number changed but I was told that because the $9.99 additional line promotion is no longer in effect for my rate plan, if I change my number they bump me up to $19.99 for the additional line. This is ridiculous, I just signed a new two-year contract back in June when I got the second line and now I'm stuck with my NJ number in MD, unless I want to pay $10 more per month. Does anyone have any ideas how I could manage this without paying more? Thanks.

Yeah, you have to get a new plan. Works the same way for Sprint.
