One of the law firms I worked for before I went out on my own was primarily a divorce practice. I can absolutely guarantee that gutting no-fault divorce and going back to the bad old days where proving cause (like adultery) will be a huge boost to the income and practice of family law attorneys in Montana.

I suspect this proposed bill is the result of one or more legislators dissatisfied with how their divorces went in that they feel it was totally unfair their spouse got anything. Unless the goal is full employment/boosted income of lawyers-paid by the legislators' constituents. As a whole, society is much better off under a no-fault system.

Divorce should be no fault and common property. There should be formulas for how everything is split and that is it. It's amazing how much people will spend moving the needle between 45 and 55%.

When my ex and I divorced we waived a lot of the divorce bullshit and walked away amicably for the most part. I can't say I would have been able to have such an ideal outcome with another woman.

Hypocrite poser conservatives at it again I see. Those bastards that submit these bills are probably the worst offenders that configure these bills for pure political gain while being the morally barren predators that they are. Same goes for every bill they author that's specifically targeted at the emotions of their voters that purposefully distract from those bills that their corporate sponsors submit that get passed word for word in it's entirety.

Yet how odd it is that they can claim to be because they've managed to reconcile their hate and fear against what they consider to be the (actually their) enemies of God and must therefore abolish them for being "socialists" that by their nature actually practice the teachings of the Good Book by wanting to provide assistance and comfort for those in need while the religiously conservative Republicans brand those in need as freeloaders. Hypocrites and charlatans infest the very core of their party, (their MAGA Trumpie base) that runs the show on that side of the aisle and regrettably so, the majority of that party acquiesce and voluntarily go along for the ride.
