Monster vs Acoustic Research

Monster is too rich for me. A/R stuff is good enough. I need to get some Component Cables though. ( i knew i should have gotten this while at best buy) Im using the sh!tty video cable. I need something better.

A/R is great.

Believe it or not, Radio Shack has awesome cables -- the gold series. 😀 Cheaper, and very nice quality.

Really,

Even cheaper than A/R. Great quality? I may have to check them out. I wonder who uses monster other than managers at BB or CC. Well i used to fill peoples heads up with bullsh!t to try and sell them. Is the quality that damn different?
$70.00 for Component Video????????:Q

I went through this a month or so ago with my 57 inch hd..

Monster cable made no discernable difference than A/R. Radioshack cables ARE A/R but rebranded. IMO A/R made a difference between cheapo component and A/R.

I bought and returned many cables trying things out.. I stuck with monster for component (employee price for $100 component was like $34...) even though the picture quality looked equal.

oh.. the connectors on the monster cable look considerably better than A/R... so while pic quality might be the same now, it might be different after being left connect for 3 years

I'd get the A/R. I have some Monster and some A/R in my system. Monster cables are a waste of money. Unless you spent $20k on your system (in which case I wouldn't recommend Monster cables anyway-there are much better options for really high end systems than Monster cables) you aren't going to see any difference between Monster and A/R-except when you get the bill.

off to Best But i go to get some A/R-
Watched the first 2 LOTR this weekend, i thought to myself, I should be able to get a better pic than this on my Vega

hehh
what are u using now?

BTW-I would get the shortest length you can and don't make the mistake of bundling the cables together. Power cables can interfere with video signal if place in very close proximity-you would notice this though.

Right now I am using A/R optical cable, but for video, just that yellow "throwaway" cable.

A BIG fyi.. when you have a big good quality TV, things will never look perfect. I see a HUGE difference in filming/camera quality. On my tv the lotr stuff looks very grainy in many parts, as do other films; while finding nemo and monsters inc look nearly PERFECT.

Keep that in mind.. your bottleneck is now the camera people are using to record things..

Gotcha-nice rig,
I really love the Lian Li case.

I haven't seen any of the LOTR movies but if it is anything like Saving Private Ryan then yeah, cables aren't going to help at all. Finding Nemo looks incredible on my 50" Mitsubishi RPTV though and I'm using A/R component cables from a decent quality Sony DVD player and a Harmon Kardon AVR-500 receiver with fiber optic for the audio.

If I could do everything over again I would have bought a 42ish inch rather than a 57. It makes it so that many many things *look* of poor quality when it is in actuality the recording that is the problem
