Monster Power (Fancy Power Strips)

Ok, so tomorrow my first brand new TV arrives (42" Sony LCD Projection). Right now I have a basic power strip. Are those fancy moster power strips and/or power "cleaners" really worth it? Is there really a major risk to my TV from power surges? If there is, dont must rents insurances policys cover such things?

Correct. Power "Cleaners" do work...but only if you live in an area that has very old cabling. If you don't live out in the boondocks, Just do what swtethan said.
 
I always wondered what the ins and outs of those warranties were. The 100k protection ones are only like $15.
 
Get a higher end APC Surge Arrest or UPS with coax protection. They give you good protection for a reasonable price.
