Monster Home:Do they purposely hire an inept worker for every show?

btw these contractors bust their arse for a bunch of power tools?
i thought the prizes were kinda lame consdering the pressure that is put on them.

ya..i dont care for him much either.hes a little to "ra ra" for my liking.

I watched it last night for the first time. The tile guy was a tool, but overall the show was pretty weak. I like trading spaces better (especially the ones with Amy Wynn).

show is pretty weak, probably won't last long.

monster garage on the other hand.....rock on! (oh, and go american chopper too)

and yes, i'm sure the producer's pick inept guys to create "drama"....else show would be even more boring!

My biggest problem with the show (which I will even admit to enjoying a little) is who in the world would want to live in those houses?! Race car house? Tiki house? C'mon!

I think it's a pretty good show, and the host isn't too bad at all. I'd live in most of those houses, they're pretty interesting at least. More fun than trading spaces. The prizes are weak though.

And yes, I do think they pick one guy that's a complete idiot for every show. My favorite loser was the electrician that wasn't really an electrician and couldn't put in a new socket.

I was pretty unimpressed with last night's episode. The only other episode I've seen was the racing house, which was much more impressive.

Isn't it like $5000 worth of tools? I'd do a weeks work for $5000 in power tools, even if it was 16 hour days. Plus you get to be on TV, which is good PR (if you do a good job)

The tile guy last night had the worst work ethic EVER. I love the show, Monday nights on Discovery rocks!

I think the show is the greatest. I must agree tha the host is an idiot. Have you seen him do any *real* work? I have seen him cut some wood and screw in some drywall. I mean I can do that stuff and I don't know anything about construction. What are his qualifications? He is kind of Paul Sr. on American Chopper. For like 2 seasons he did nothing. I was starting to doubt he could even remember how to build a bike until recently, when he started helping Cody.

Also, I bet the reason there is always an idiot worker for each worker is that it's representative of the construction/handyman community in general. I mean it only makes sense that in that profession there are shady , unqualified people.

Just like any other...

I doubt it. Most construction workers are pretty inept because they are trying to take as many shortcuts as they can. Just look at the quality of houses being built today. If you are building a house, you should quit your job to make sure it is built correctly and to get them to fix their mistakes before it happens. My parents just had a duplex built and every frickin light switch is behind a door. Not a huge ordeal, but very very annoying. when they had their own house built, the foreman built most of it by himself. His crews had an average of a different guy in jail each week and at least one person not showing up every day.

Show sucks in my opinion. I dont see what is so monster about any of it. The cars are awesome. Especially when jesse james destroyed the desert buggy with a gatling gun.

Enough of this "Monster" stuff! Monster Garage and American Chopper should be it. Now they have Monster House, and some new show American Roadster or something......

sheesh, you find a good idea and milk it to DEATH!

Yah. I have to go to my parent's new house near VA beach next weekend to see that the punch list is taken care of. They hate seeing me come because I was at one time a licensed GC and I know exactly what kind of crap they try to get away with. Right now the GC for them is redoing about $10K in plumbing because it was not up to code nor anywhere near the plans.

I mean, when I did this for a living, how could you do something so wrong unless you intentionally do this?

Oops. Sorry for hijacking the thread there. The only show I saw was a garage that looked something like Aztec ruins in a jungle. A welder and the master carpenter were having a row and they both came off as being pansies.

In Hollywood, there is no originality.
