Was looking for a decent price surge protector and IR blaster, and found this on sale at Dell: Monster Cable Power Center EP 2450. Amazon.com has it for $173.99, while Dell has it on sale for $149.99 ($350 off MSRP).

More on the IR blaster aspect:

However, the EPIR 2450 Empowered IR PowerCenter is more than just an ordinary PowerCenter. The "Empowered" IR technology in the EP IR 2450 lets you send remote control commands to all of their home theater components through their PowerCenter via IR emitter cables. This gives you a new level of remote control precision and reliability that not only widens the arc of their remote controls, but also extends remote control reach even behind solid wood or metal AV cabinets where remote signals would typically be blocked.

The IR RecieverEven better, there's an included external IR receiver that lets you keep all of your AV components and the PowerCenter completely out of sight for an elegant, clean home theater look that lets the décor speak for itself. Now you don't have to look at distracting AV components and blinking lights when you're watching a movie or just relaxing.

NICE DEAL!

While some of their mid and high end cabling products might be a bit pricey compared to other brands, their power centers work as advertised and do cut down on line noise and other AC interference you might experience in your components.

And they stand behind their products very well, in my experience.

If I had an extra $150 lying around, I'd pick this up just to upgrade an older power center I use hanging on my wall on one HT I have.

If it wasn't so damned ugly I might actually bite. That thing makes my TW DVR look downright sexy.

Since it does have an IR blaster, you don't *have* to have it out and visible....you could use the small IR receiver. I have all my equipment behind cabinet doors, so the only thing which will be outside and visible would be the tv and the Monster Cable IR receiver.

Does this work for a computer? What is the max power draw?

I'm not sure if I have use for this, what it does over a decent surge protector except the remote feature.
