Honestly, not much. It might flex a little more and weigh less, but its not like DAS uses PBT plastic so the typing experience would be the same. I'm sure you would lose NKRO though, if that is important to you.

The downside will be that the monoprice uses cheaper stabilizers (the bars that prevent long keys like space, enter and shift from twisting) and the stiffness of the keyboard itself will be less as I doubt the monoprice mounts the switches to a metal plate.

That being said, the monoprice should be a huge step up from whatever rubber dome your work is providing and it is hard to argue with the price.

FYI, the monoprice had 6KRO/NKRO. This is featured on like 99% of the new mechanical boards coming out.

Damn, that's an insane board then. Build quality on mechanical boards gets blown way out of proportion. My Topre flexes slightly less than my Filcos, which flex slightly less than the $5 boards at work. I guess being able to route the cable out the sides is kinda cool, and PBT keys feel sweet for the first few years of use; but, it honestly doesn't matter that much.

I'd say switch characteristics and nkro if you need it are 95% of what you should be looking for in a board

I have owned the MX Black since January and love it. Coming from a Logitech Wave. This is easily the best Keyboard I have owned for gaming or typing. I can't go back to rubber dome boards. I am easily getting Mechanical from now on.

They said these boards use gold plated switches. It feels well made. Like most things there will be a break in period like for the springs. Been working great since I got it. No complaints at all.

Monoprice does do various sales like now 11 days of sales and you can usually add in a coupon too for even more savings.
