Anyone tried the newer 30" monitor from Monoprice or should I try another eBay/Korean manufacturer? I'm really spoiled with the 30" size but need more connections without spending an additional $500 (Dell).

Seems like the general consensus right now is that there are not any really good all round 30" monitors being made. All current models have some type of problem or multiple problems. It was hoped the Dell U3014 would be the one to buy but its got problems too. Right now its 27" or go TV as best options. Hopefully in 2014 Dell and others will come up with good 30" models. The focus however seems to be more on 4k which will be much more expensive. Personally, I would hold off on a 30" and wait to see what next year brings us. If you want something now get a 27".

I don't know about the 30", but the 27" "Glass Pro" version got a glowing review from Anandtech.

the 30" Monoprice seems to be getting good reviews from the few users who have purchased one but it could be their bias. but usually it's the buyers with negative experiences that post reviews.

I agree that 4K is where future monitors are focused. I was disappointed by the Dell reviews as well and the U3011 are hard to find new and are expensive. Unfortunately I have a couple 3007s and am spoiled by the additional real-estate and with a new build I want to get into another 30"(abet on a budget) as soon as possible.

Yeah, For now I went with a 39" TV for my 'bigger screen' needs. TV, movies, and gaming look great but text reading sucks so need a separate monitor for that. Next year I plan to do something different I think. Not sure if it will be 4k or what.
