Even with the best video card, if you have a crappy monitor, your eyes won't know your card costs 500+. Could we please have more monitor reviews? Some of the high-end, expensive ones are worth reviewing, and how about LCDs? I'm looking for a 21 in, I've looked into ViewSonic CRTs, but their products are so heavily backordered, I suspect they are having manufacturing problems. My budget goes up to $1500 CDN, which is about $1000 US. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Will

From the reviews I've read, aperture grill beats shadow mask technology, AP has brighter, more vivid color but has this 2 lines w/c are sometimes visible. Most of the reviews I've read recommend getting a Sony if you can afford it, Mitsubishi and Samsung were recommended too, if the respective monitors we're using the AP technology. Maximum PC has Sony Aperture grill, trinitron monitors as being their Dream Machine Monitors I think 2 years in a row and has always recommended it above any other monitor, including Mitsubishi etc. w/c also uses aperture grill.

I would recommend Aperture grill monitors over shadow mask monitors as long as those two faint lines don't bug you.

$1000 can buy you a excellent 21". Sony's are great monitors but expensive. I think a Sony G500 21" is over a $1000 by a bit. I would go with a Samsung 1200NF which is a 22", 20" viewable monitor. It costs about $800. The KDS AV-21TF is another great one, though the Samsung has better refresh rates.
