Monitors

I've been looking at some 21:9 monitors and there are flat ones and there are curved ones. I have a pretty hard time figuring out any kind of benefits out of the curved noes, they do look cool but I'm afraid it might hinder my focus or might make me occasionally woozy. Also having a hard time finding a decent combination of displayport and <6ms response time and preferably 144Hz, I'm in particular trying to avoid the Acer brand.

Any experience in using these curved monitors?

In theory, the benefit of a curved monitor is that the lateral points of the screen are the same distance from your eyes as the center area. I have seen them displayed in Costco, but have not considered it as an essential investment to replace what I have.

I would say avoid curved VA panels. I owned the Samsung S34E790C for a time and the screen was somewhat unsettling on the eyes after extended use. I could never get the text quite right either (using cleartype). Always seemed a bit blurry and out of focus.

I've heard good things about curved IPS panels though. In particular, the Dell U3415W.

The highest refresh rate you will find on an ultrawide (3440x1440 IPS) is 100Hz, limited by the bandwidth of DP 1.2. You will have to wait for DP 1.3/1.4 panels to arrive for 144Hz 3440x1440 panels.

I've seen the particular Dell model, it did look good. And I didn't know that about DP limiting the Hz rate, 1.3 is just coming out now on many monitors.
