i have a couple questions

so im makeing my own computer with parts from newegg.com and i have a monitor that i want to purchase but is this fine for gaming (battlefield 2, world of warcraft, counterstrike etc.) what matters when buying a monitor???

now the second thing is if i get a dell monitor from an outlet will that work with my own custom made computer?

A Dell monitor will work.

The one you linked to does not have a DVI connection, which may or may not be of interest to you. It is a widescreen, so your vid card will need to support 1440x900 resolution. Acer does make pretty god lcds.

Assuming you want an LCD (some people still like CRT's) then: response time, 6bit vs 8bit, widescreen vs standard, DVI, viewing angle.

I just got a widerscreen (viewsonic 1912wb) which comes with dvi cable, very pure and clear. I also got a Acer AL1717 which is not bad, but i like my viewsonic more. Also another one i just got was Acer AL1917ABMD which is not bad either.
