Monitors won't turn off

I've got my power settings to shut off my monitors after 30 minutes. Recently this just stopped happening. What else is there to check about this? Using Win 8.1 fully updated. Thanks.

Change it to something else (like 10 minutes) and see if that works. If it does, then change it back to 30.

The problem was Spybot. I figured that something kept running and kept the monitors on so I watched Task Manager for awhile and saw Spybot working, even though I had turned it off. Uninstalled and now not only do monitors turn off but the system is noticeably faster. Too bad, because Spybot has been useful in the past, now seems bloated and in the way.

A few print screen capture programs also mess with the power settings and you must either uninstall it or apply the patch. I was going to suggest that until you solved it yourself. Good detective work!

SNAGIT a screen capture program just released a patch 2 weeks ago that prevented computers going to sleep.

I stopped using Spybot MANY years ago due to the slowness. There are other programs out there, such and MBAM and SA, that can replace its functionality and not slow you down.

Spybot was great 3 or 4 years ago, as with all freeware as it became more popular it became more bloated. Haven't used it for a couple of years now.
