Monitors, what type of screen is this?

I've seen a couple of 19 inch monitors (hitachi 75x and Samsung 955) now that have this wierd vertical stripe thing. All the pixels seem to be lined up like so :

| | | |

etc. What kind of screen makes this? Do all the bigger new monitors have this? I am hoping not because I really don't like this compared to how my little 15" trinitron is now and would like to get this type when I buy. Anyone have any models/screen types (invar shadow mask/whatever else.) Which type of screen has the little dot lookin things instead of stripes?

Thanks

OK, this doesn't look right. Imagine that the middle row of bars is staggered between the other 2, like bricks
