Monitors on WinXP

I was running Win ME and the monitor I have was detected straight away - Acer V771. However after upgrading to WinXP the monitor is standard P'n'P with a limited refresh rate of 85Hz on all resolutions.
I did the system configuartion checker and the only problem that came up was my Radeon 8500. So I downloaded the official drivers. As I only have an upgrade disk I did a minimal install of ME (I mean minimal) and then installed XP. The monitor was detected as Standard P'n'P, so I tried other drivers - The new Omega/Plutonium.
The monitor didnt come with any drivers at all.
