Monitors: LED backlight vs Non-LED backlight

I just want to know the difference between these two types of display.

I'm not a huge gamer or do anything intensive that requires a nice display.

The LED display will be less bright & consume less power as compared to the LCD one so get the LED backlight display, cause personally I like the better contrast ratio on'em, also avoid the ones with PWM flicker.

Sorry, but I am not sure you know what you are talking about. I do not mean any offense by this, but what you stated is confusing and not entirely true. I think you are thinking of OLED maybe? Where each pixel is an LED.

When it comes to computer monitors, they are all LCD's (With the exception of OLEDs, but they are still rare and small). You have two back lighting types. Either edge lit LED, or edge lit Florescent for standard LCD's.

LED back lighting is pretty much superior in every way. Although this greatly depends on the quality of the display. LED back lit will not yellow over time to the extent that florescent back lit displays will. Brightness levels depends on the display quality, and can be very bright in either case.

Personally I see zero reason to go with a florescent back lit display.

Perhaps my post wasn't clear enough, but I assure you I wasn't confusing LED backlit displays with OLED's at all, as I base this on my experience using a high end Panasonic LCD(ccfl backlit) display which I've been using for the past 3yrs & comparing it with a recently acquired top of the line Benq edge LED backlit monitor.

The ccfl powered displays will always be brighter than any comparable LED backlit display but the contrast on LED backlit displays will be sufficiently higher to negate that as a disadvantage. The panels, as you said, do no really matter if they're the same but even for similar panels ccfl vs LED backlighting can make a huge difference in terms of perception however I now prefer LED backlit displays with their superior contrast.
 
I see absolutely no difference between my PVA Led panel and an older PVA panel with CCFL backlighting. High end monitors usually have either CCFL or RGB-LED for better color accuracy. Consumer models use white-LEDs which have dirtier colors.

Claiming that LED backlighting looks better is false. Unless it's OLED.

I'm not sure if this was in response to my post, cause I didn't say such a thing, but what I said was that LED backlit diplays are generally less bright than their CCFL counterparts but have a better contrast ratio, plus eat less power, so that's what I've stated & I'd like anyone who thinks I'm wrong to actually prove it!
