I have a desktop with 2 monitors, a primary 21.5" P2250 1920x1080 from Samsung and a secondary 17" 1280x1024. The 21.5" is about 6 months old, and the 17" is at least 5 years old (my dad used it at work before I started using it at home when I first built my old computer 5 years ago).
I also have a laptop, a 13.3" HP Probook 4320s. This is around 2 months old.
The problem I have is that my 17" monitor and the screen on my 4320s both flicker. On the 17", the flicker appears in ripples of light and dark that travel diagonally from about the center to the top right hand corner of the monitor. This happens about once every 5 minutes or so and lasts for about 3-5s at a time.
My 4320s flicker involves the whole screen, flickering between light and dark. This also occurs every 5 minutes or so, but lasts for much longer - 5-10s at a time. My 21.5" does not flicker, and I'm very impressed with it.
Neither flickers when I change the monitor's angle, position, etc. I don't think it's because it's heat, both screens feel cold to the touch (both front and back) and the problem starts occurring straight after I turn the monitor/laptop on.
I've checked and rechecked the connections from the 17" monitor to my 4870 (no, I don't have any other GPUs to test this out on) but the problem won't go away.
Can anyone give me any advice? Thanks for the input.
