Monitors: CRT or LCD?

The high-end Samsung LCD model is the 215TW. It's as close as you can get to a decent shadow mask (photo-editing purposes), likewise the high brightness of the NEC likens itself more to aperture grille CRTs. The NEC is a lot faster though.

The Sony FW900 is a good aperture grille Trinitron CRT.

FW900 is 24 inch, there is an F400 21 inch 4:3 non-widescreen I think 300 might be 19inch etc.

Dunno about widescreen in under 24.

hmm...
a question about the Sony FW900, does it only come in 24" ????
is there ones that are anywhere from 19 to 22" ???

There are plenty of 4:3 ones in that range, but as far as I know the FW900 is the only widescreen one out there.

im not a big fan of lcd's either, im looking at throwing 600-800 at an lcd, but ill always keep my crt around. im lookin at newegg for a NEC 20WMGX2-BK, anyone ever used it.http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16824002320

but right now im runnin a Samsung Syncmaster 997DF. and i love the big beast, everyone says why do i have a regular monitor, i just say im a gamer, and i dont want to deal with update rates, and dead pixels. and i remember reading that you can either have full color, or low update rates, cant have both.

is this Samsung 1100DF Black a top notch CRT?

what about this NEC AccuSync 120-BK CRT??

also this Viewsonic G225FB CRT??

it seems everyone is afraid of giving links to CRT's and most are giving links to LCD's.
in the end if i can't find a great CRT, i probably will settle for that NEC 20WMGX2 LCD everyone seems to be recommending...or perhaps that high end Samsung LCD which i keep forgetting the model number of.

opinions on the above linked CRT's? PLEASE.... 🙁

The Lacie Electron IV 22 Blue is worth looking at. Uses the same tube as the Mitsubishi 2070SB.

so are the 19 and 21" FW's just as good as the FW900?
im mauling over in my mind between the Mitsubishi 2070SB and the Sony one.

I believe they are the same spec in terms of tube (Trinitron FD I think) and resolution/refresh rates other than the fact that the FW supports WS aspects obviously. They are the same model family so should be same quality. I have seen the F400 (19in) and F500 (21in) in person maybe 4 or 5 years ago when you could buy them in stores and they were amazing. LCD is not even close to that level of CRT, I wish I had bought one a few months ago, I have a Samsung 997MB CRT, it is good but low end compared to those.

If you want the best monitor out there, go for the Sony Trintron GDM-FW900. From what I've read and seen, there is absolutely no contest. The ONLY downsides are its dimensions, but I'm sure if you want CRT you are willing to take that sacrifice.
