Monitors buzzing at low brightness

I'm in the market for a new monitor, basically only for the fact my current monitor makes an annoying buzz if the brightness is set below 90%. The monitor was released in 2008 (Samsung 2253bw).

What causes monitors to make annoying sounds at low brightness settings, and how sure can I be that if I buy a new LED TN monitor it won't have a buzz?

(Currently considering a Samsung S19B420BW)

On the monitor you also have controls for changing the colour temperature, will allow you to reduce brightness without actually changing the brightness setting. That is also worth a go.

But in essence the problem is PWM controlled backlights, and the reviews at tftcentral.co.uk test for PWM based backlighting so you can find a monitor that doesn't have it.

My Samsung 2443's also have a hum on lower brightness when the screen is mostly white, but not at other times (thankfully). But my dell 2410 doesn't have a PWM backlight and has no hum at all.
