Question Monitors and power consumption

I have an Acer S231HLbid 23" LCD Monitor tied to an NVR displaying outdoor cameras. I originally got it in 2011 for a computer that died long ago. It's been 'on' 24 hours a day for most of the last 4 or 5 years since I put it to use for the cameras. I'm on third power supply for it (at least those are cheap).

It doesn't use a lot of power, but I'm wondering if newer technology monitors would use even less.

Things always improve as tech advances. However, the money you spend on anew screen will take another decade to save on electrical costs. Some googling should give you some answers.

It's LED backlit, so not going to be a "lot" of difference, as Tech Junky stated it would probably take a decade+ to recoup the purchase cost.

Seems like it would be something you didn't have to have on 24/7 if you want a larger drop in power consumption. Some monitors put themselves to sleep but I imagine that doesn't if it's getting a live cam feed?
