Monitoring latency and packet loss to hosts

Hey all I'm messing around a little and would like to start building some graphs showing the total round trip and latency to various destinations. I'm already running mrtg so I'm tempted to go with it, but I'm still trying to come up with a good script to run to do so. I've also been looking at smoke-ping which looks pretty nice. Recommendations? Maybe a perl or boune script using fping to measure latency and packet loss for use with mrtg? 😉
