I?m deciding between two monitors right now?The Dell UltraSharp 2005FPW and the NEC/MITSUBISHI FE2111SB-BK?The size of the NEC/MITSUBISHI isn?t a problem for me and I just use it for gaming?Which is making me not really want the Dell?Just wondering you?re thoughts and if you have another monitor that you think I might prefer.

If it's strictly for gaming, I recommend the CRT over the LCD, by a long shot. I've actually used and owned both the FP2141SB (the next model over the one you're looking at) and the 2005FPW I own now. I was beyond impressed with how smooth the NEC CRT was at gaming, especially at 100+Hz. However, what killed it for me was that I couldn't get it to be as sharp as I wanted - while not a dealbreaker for games, text applications just weren't that great (had the same problem with a relacement too).

Since I really only have the money for one monitor at this point, I sent the CRT back and went for the 2005FPW, and I'm loving that right now. Widescreen gaming is great; it ghosts somewhat (like all LCD's), but I can live with it; text and geometry are perfect; and it doesn't weigh 70 pounds (important for me because I live in a dorm :p).

However like I said - if it's just for gaming, go for the CRT and you won't regret it a bit. :)

Ditto. As an owner of both a 21" Nokia CRT and the Dell 2005 fpw the CRT WAS better for gaming, though now it is getting kinda blurry (at least it looks that way next to my 2005 fpw). I enjoy gaming more on the LCD simply for widescreen, but the CRT scaled much better for those games I could not run at max res.

Personally I myself (as well as my desk) am very glad I went with the 2005 fpw over a new CRT. 75lbs Nokia + 20lbs Dell is much better in my case then 75lbs Nokia + 70-80lbs new CRT :)
