Ok as you may have noticed from my recent posts I am working on a new system for myself, now I ordered all my parts from newegg :).

So that means I got my good deal on a laptop for notes in college at best buy this morning, and my gaming desktop parts are on the way. Now the budget has left about 400 bucks for a monitor, printer, and speakers. I am looking for some people's opinions on what is good for my type of budget. For the speakers I am thinking a nice/decent 2.1 system, I don't see myself having room for a 5.1 system. For the monitor I am thinking 17" maybe LCD with 16 ms response time (probably costs a lot though) or a solid CRT. As for the printer, what ever is cheap and a solid product.

Thanks again for all your help guys.

$400 for a monitor, printer and speakers? You can practically eliminiate a 17" LCD with 16ms response time because that would practically fill up your budget entirely, if not go over it to begin with. I would go for a 17" CRT if you want to get a decent Printer and Speakers. I would recommend possibly a 17" from Viewsonic's Graphics line of CRT monitors or their G90f if you want a 19"...the G90f @ Dell's store is probably around $230 with free shipping. My other recommendation for a 19" would be the NEC FP912SB which is probably around $280 at their store. As for the Printer, I would recommend a Lexmark Z705 and I also enjoy Altec Lansing's "221" 2.1 system. I am not doing some extensive research for you; I am telling you what I have heard is good and what I know is good for the price. We have the 2.1 Altec Lansing speakers I mentioned with another PC as well as the Printer. The printer wasn't too expensive and it is VERY nice, especially when you use the USB on it. The other monitors are ones that just about everyone recommends :) but that FP912SB is a very good monitor for the price.
