Monitor won't work, nor mouse or KB

Basically, I had an old 8800GTS 320, I replaced that with a GTX 280 on my Corsair 620HX.
I have a C2D 3GHz, 4GB of ram 800Mhz. ABIT IP35-E and 3x HDDs.

M monitor shows a floating box where ti says check signal, sometimes it says Analog and sometimes DIgital - It is a Samsung SYncmaster 245B.

I also got a new case, so I transfered all the components over - it is not my first time building a computer either and I am pretty sure everything is plugged in where it should be.

I have tried resetting CMOS, I have tried with my old graphics card and nothing happens - another problem is that neither my mouse will glow (below its a laser mouse) nor will my keyboard light up - However when I turn the PSU switch off(not the power button), then back on - the keyboard lights up when it does that self-test for a few seconds and then it turns off again.

As I said, I have tried re-using my old graphics card and nothing happens still, I do think tis worth mentioning that I had a similioar problem before, my monitor wouldnt work but I solved that by completely randomly mashing cables left and right replugging everything for a good few hours.

The case is an Antec Nine Hundred Ultiamte Gamer, I believe it is also worth mentioning that the GTX280 is from BFG and has a light at the back, the manual says green = enough juice, red = incorrect connections and/or not sufficent juice. I have exluded faulty PSU or GPU, perhaps that was wrong?

I have also tried using an DVI - VGA adapter and that doesn't show me anything either - I am also sure my samsung syncmaster works because 3hours ago before I turned it off I was playing games.

Now, my case came with some red hm, like the "bottom" of a philips head screw, Perhaps I have to add those to the motehrboard before attaching it? I've never needed to do something like that before because motherboards usually have their own security-things.

I guess it is worth mentioning that the computer stays on quite a while, but nothing actually happens, I have the sound plugged in aswell and I don't hear it loading in to windows, it just stays on for a good 5-10minutes, then it turns itself off.

Any ideas?

Sounds like you may have a short. It will be a pain and i sure hate to metion it to you since iots in the 900 but you probably need to pull everything out of the case. Set it up ontop of your motherboard box and get it to boot. Chances are you have a standoff in the wrong place and it may be shorting the system. But get the system running outside of the case then try it in the case again.

I figured that would be the next step, oke well first thing when I wake up then, thanks.

I'll try it with mobo, 1 ram stick and GPU + CPU, if GTX 280 doesnt work then Ill try with the other card, if that doesn't work either I'm going to hurt something!

Just out of curosity, I can put the motherboard on that "sponge" thingy that came with the box? or do I put it on the anti-stat bag? I've onyl heard this trubleshooting method is good, never actually used it.

Just set it on top of the box. If you want to put it on the anti static bag but don't put it on the foam.

Do not place running components on an anti static bag. The bag is conductive and forms a faraday cage around a board when closed, but provides no protection once opened, and might interfere with anything placed on it.

Just put it on something you KNOW is non-conductive, like wood, or cardboard.
