Monitor won't turn on

Hi guys,
I went to turn on our computer the other day, and when the monitor did it's "click" thing to come alive it didn't display anything. Then, it just started constantly turning off and back on(that clicking sound).
I tried it on my laptop and it did the same thing.
I bought a new monitor and it works perfect.

Is the old monitor ready to be taken into the backyard with a baseball bat, or is there any last thing I can try to make sure it really is dead?

Thanks for any help.

did you change the video card setting? maybe try plug in new moniter, then switch everything to basic settings (lower refresh rate, 256 color, lowest resolution, etc etc)

good luck

Oh ya, I forgot to mention...it won't even show the bootup screen, BIOS info or anything like that. I just want it to get that far at least.
It did show that ONE time, and then it just clicked off and didn't from then on.
