Monitor won't stay on

I have a Samsung 957MB CRT monitor. The other day after pushing the on-off button, the monitor refused to stay on. If I hold the button in, it will come up fine but as soon as I let go, it goes black and the LED flashes rapidly. The service manual says a rapidly flashing LED and no picture indicates the need to replace one or two monitor mainboard parts but does not say anything about if the monitor comes up with the power button held in. I opened up the case to see if it is a switch problem, but the switch seems to be physically okay. Any thoughts? I hate to replace this just yet as it still has a great picture and my messing with the circuit board might be risky.

Replace it, but you already voided the warranty by inspecting it yourself so, buy a new monitor. There really is no other option...
