Monitor won't standby in power save

Hi folks,

I use Win2K both at work and home. I've got a minor that's got me stumped.

At work, I've got monitor to go into power save mode after 2 hours. When that kicks in (usually overnight), the monitor turns itself off (the green ON light goes amber) until there is keyboard or mouse input--at which point it turns itself back on.

At home, it doesn't quite work that way. When power save mode kicks in, the screen will go black, but the monitor will not go into power save mode (i.e., the ON light stays green). When I move the mouse, the screen will restore, but no change in the monitor status (it stays on all the time).

Any ideas how I can get it to actually go into power save (hibernate) mode? I'm using NEC FE950+ at work and NEC FE700 at home, both of which are plug-and-play monitors. I've tried both generic plug-and-play monitor driver and a FE700 driver from NEC, with same unsatisfactory results.

Another thing: I have an APC Back-UPS CS 350 hooked up to the home computer. Not sure if that would make any difference.

Thanks for any help in advance.
