I have:
1.2g tbird 266fsb
epox 8kha ddr
256mb pc2100
NIC
SB Live 512
Hitachi 12x dvd
samsung 40x12x40
maxtor 40gb d740x
monitor: envision 17"
Power: 300watt generic

I know the monitor works fine, as I tried with my other rig and it powers up.

However, with this rig, I cannot get the monitor to come on...

I tried using another monitor with this rig also, same problem.

Is it because of the power supply? I even disconnected several stuff like the sound card and the dvd rom, but to no effect. It WAS working once - when I had those 2 not installed yet. After I installed it, just the hardware, the monitor won't power up now....

Can anyone help me?

did this just start happening out of the blue one day? did u try to stick another video card in and see what happens? if another agp card has the same problem... try a pci card. if the pci card works. is there an option in the bios that lets u choose which is ur primary vga (agp or pci)?

Actually it's a new system.

It booted up fine just now when I tried it, after taking out SBLive (not sure if that was the problem at all); then the next time it had the problem again (monitor won't turn on).

It booted up perfectly the first few times, then when I put in SBLive, and NIC, and DVD rom, the monitor problem came up. Honestly I don't know if those 3 things caused it, as I've ran into this problem before INTERMITTENTLY with other systems - usualy just have to turn off and restart.

This seems like a common problem, at least for me.

Does anyone know what the solution is? Or even what the actual problem is? Power not enough? Video?

I've ran into this problem using voodoo and ati cards, and i don't have nvidia cards now. Could be the radeon also....

If anyone, anyone at all, could tell me what the problem / solution is... I would be very grateful!!!
thanks.

well... after a long while... this system still has the same problem.

i have to use the reset button everytime because the monitor just won't show anything.... i know everything else is running fine. just the monitor won't power up. Most of the time when this happens i just press the reset button, and 90% of the time it will power up the 2nd time, while the other % i need to press the reset more than 1 time...

any help?
