monitor will not wake on startup

I've built a new system and the monitor will not "wake" when I start the system. I can hear the system load to the desktop but no monitor. If I reset the computer the monitor will wake and everything will work fine. I just can't figure out what I need to adjust to get it to wake the monitor from a cold start.

I'm using an asus p4p800 motherboard, radeon 9700 pro, dell 19" trinitron monitor, 2 512 crucial sticks of ram, 120 wd hard drive and one optical drive. Has a 350w power supply.

It's not the monitor. I get the same effect with the monitor off my other system. The monitor works fine, it's just waking it on start is the problem. Something isn't initalizing right when the system is turned on.

Try reinstalling the video card drivers. Do you have a 9500 and 9500 secondary listed in device manager? Under the display adapters.
