I have my monitor set up to turn off after some time but lately it is not doing so.

I set the OFF time to 1 minute and noticed that it does turn off, but then instantly turns back on.

I have not made any recent changes I can think of wit the exception of FreeRam XP pro but I think this started after that.

Is there a way to find out what event is restarting the monitor and how to stop it?

Thanks

I tried turning on a screen saver. After 1 min the screen saver and then a minute later the monitor should turn off.

Well the screen saver turned on and then the monitor turned of a minute later. But when I moved the mouse I got the welcome screen.
Interesting as I don't have the show welcome screen after standby and I don't even use standby.

Any ideas?

Thanks

It worked normally for a day and is not back to the off and then instantly back on again.

No way to check what is waking it up?

Thanks

Something's disturbing its idle state and waking it up instantly? See if it happens in safe mode (if that even has a screen saver).

Try something longer than 1 minute? 1 min a little insane??? Try something like 20 or 30 so it doesn't turn off everytime you go to the bathroom :p

I to have this problem with winxp sp2, i got a Diamond Pro 930sb/ATI 9700 Pro. Only when I change a setting to like 1min it will shut off, but won't do it again anymore after first time. No matter what time i set it to power down, it does it onces, but won't do it again after i move mouse to bring up screen.

Monitor is only device with power saving enabled.

It used to turn off all the time then just kinda stopped.

I run Utorrent in the background and disabled all the power features in options for it. Without Utorrent running still wont shut off. Kinda sucks cause want to save on already stupid electic bills even if a few bucks :p

Until the problem is resolved, why not reach over and press the power button on the monitor if you know that you're gonna be away from the screen for any length of time?

It misses you.

Is the button broken? Otherwise you can just turn off your power bar/UPS (you do have one, right?).

Yah lets just do that when its suppose to power off automaticlly... /rolls eyes.

Besides its not good on monitor to turn it off and on vs power saving.

Well, unfortunately my monitor and my PCs are currently off.

One room of my house lost power. The strange part is that it shares a circuit barker with another room and that one works fine. Power just cut to my computers.

Until that gets fixed, I set the time so short just to see it it worked, normally I use 20 min.

And I could turn the monitor off but that's many off cycles and maybe I might forget and think the PC froze.

Hopefully I can get power back soon to try things out.
