I am currently running
a Q6600@3gig
4gig of ram
vista ult 64bit.
8800GT - newer version
Samsung 2232bw

I am looking to upgrade my monitor and VGA card, as i am moving the monitor to a 2nd PC.
The monitor though not the best Samsung has been fine for me, and i have no issues with the screen quality/brightness etc.
I play a variety of games, though i am not a die hard fps man.

I cannoy justify a move to the 30" dell really, hey we still have a CRT as out main TV not sure my wife would cope lol.

So i am considering 1900*1280 screens, of medium quality.

3 options at the moment,
Asus 26" screen as reccomened on the Anandtech guides
Samsun T260
Hanspree 28"

and pairing it with a new card that can push Fallout3 lets say with everything on at that res with my cpu.
Would a 4890 do that ?

Any suggestions really, many thanks

I think the resolution you're looking for is 1920x1200. And keep in mind - with a 30" LCD not only is the screen more expensive - you also will need a much more powerful GPU to get the same smooth gaming experience.

Either a 4890 (ATi) or a GTX 275 (nVidia) would be sufficient for most gaming on a 24-28" screen.

I personally love my Dell 2709W. 27" @ 1920x1200 - games & movies look downright amazing. More expensive than the models you're considering but it has a better panel also.
