I have a Samsung SyncMaster T260HD monitor, hooked up via HDMI to my video card.
After my screen saver comes on for a little while, I get "HDMI 1" and "No Signal" message in the center of the screen. I know this is monitor related, but is there a way to not have this, and just the monitor black?

When I use to use DVI connection, never had this issue. I think it may be HDMI related.

Maybe it has something to do with drivers or some problem with the video card. Did you install your monitor's drivers? My HDTV use to overdrive my 720p integrated video. I think DVI has a top limit for resolution/hrz.

So basically whenever the GPU tells the monitor to go into sleep mode, it displays a "no signal" message instead? Sounds like a bug/oversight in the monitor firmware to me. As I see it, you have three options:
1. Hope/pray for a monitor firmware update (not likely).
2. Set the computer so the monitor doesn't go to sleep but instead displays a blank screen as the screensaver.
3. Just use DVI.
