Monitor Turning Green

it could be one of two things. 1) The red signal wire is broken in the cord somewhere (my green signal wire did that on my old monitor once), or 2) The heater for the red is dying (happened to my dad's monitor once).

Could be something else maybe too but those are the two things that come to mind. To check the cord, wiggle it around especially near the ends. If the color goes green and back when doing that you know its the cord. If it doesn't, odds are its something internal.

i don't know if you have the same problem as me or not but i have an old CRT monitor and it sometimes turns slightly to another color but when i smack (more of a tap 😛) it gets fixed. i'm not one that usually hits stuff and expects it to get fixed but i accidentally nudged it one time and it got fixed so that's how i found out.

I tried hitting the monitor and it turned back to normal but what could have caused this. It wasn't the cord.

Count me in as well. I have an old 15" CRT, must be at least 6 years old now, that has this problem once and awhile. Sometimes hitting it on the side works, sometimes it doesn't. I'm not real worried though, I don't use that computer very often, if the monitor dies, no big deal.

What does RMA stand for

Return Merchandise Authorization.

I'm subscribing too, as I've had this problem with Monitors, as well as TV's in the past.

From what they told me when I sent mine back in

It was that one of the electron guns had come out of alingment
hitting it helped short term but made it worse in the long run as by the time it got sent in everything was out of wack 😛

My Sony Trinitron had the same symptom of turning a bright shade of green. It was five years old. I tossed it in the trash bin and bought a new NEC/Mitsubishi 19" CRT and a Dell wide screen LCD (both on sale). Dual monitors is the BOMB!

Have fun shopping for a new monitor(s)!

I had a monitor that used to do that every once in a while, I just unscrewed the cord on both eneds, dusted the contact area on the back of the monitor, the computer, and both ends of the cable using a compressed air duster, and screwed the cable back in tightly. No problems ever again.
