I have a Dell P1130, the max resolution is 2048*1536 @ 75hz. I can go into the CCC and i can pick 2048*1536 @ 75hz and it runs that fine on my desktop. However in any game the highest the game menu shows is 1800*1440, even when i change the launch options in steam to 2048*1536 @60hz it just defaults it back down to 800*600. Is there anything I can do to get this baby running in 2048*1536 in games?

If it helps to clarify, when i was using the control panel the highest supported it would show is 1800*1440, but if i click show unsupported resolutions, then i can pick 2048*1536, and it works fine. But in CCC i can already pick 2048*1536.

Try updating your monitor drivers to any that have 2048x1536 as the max supported.

Updated to the latest driver for this monitor off the dell site and still only shows up as 1800*1440 in my control panel. I looked for a driver for another monitor that was 2048*1536 but cant seem to find one. Would that even work? seeing as how it would be a different monitor?

Yeah, sure, it would work. It's just an inf, not really any driver. Well it does specify DPMS mode too, but most monitors have that. I'm sure the generic ones should be fine.

Hmm. From here it looks like you may need to disable EDID to get it to work. Not sure how to do that on Windows.

I downloaded the P1130 driver and modified it to add 2048x1536. See if this works for you. Just uninstall the driver via device manager then do update driver and specify the inf file in this zip. If it says something about bad catalog file or whatever (that's the encrypted .cat file I can't modify) just ignore it.

Try right clicking the inf file and clicking Install. Or you have to go in your device manager and the display should be in there?

hhmmmmm.... well you'd have to do the same thing...modify the inf and then install it. The inf is embedded somewhere so simply editing it won't do anything.

You have Windows XP, correct? If so:

Go in device manager, monitors, and select whichever one is listed. Right click, update driver. Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced). Then do Don't search. Uncheck Show compatible hardware. Click Have Disk. Specify the location of that new inf you extracted from the zip. Some monitor entry should show up in the list. Select it and hit next.

No problem...what did you do before that didn't work? Did you select search for driver? Should have worked anyway, odd that it didn't...

Anyway here's what I did to the inf file:

HKR,"MODES\2048,1536",Mode1,,"30.0-130.0,48.0-170.0,+,+"

[2048]
HKR,,MaxResolution,,"2048,1536"

AddReg=P1130.AddReg, 2048, DPMS

Those were the only things I modified/added I think.

I just left this part intact:

[P1130.AddReg]
HKR,"MODES\1800,1440",Mode1,,"30.0-130.0,48.0-170.0,+,+"

You can use RivaTuner to build a custom inf file for your monitor to support whatever max resolution you want. I use it to get 2048x1536 on a couple of my monitors.
