Monitor suggestions

Hey guys,
First time poster here and I'm already trying to probe everyone for info :) My Samsung SyncMaster 955df monitor has been a TERRIBLE monitor since the day I picked it up but now it's really starting to slowly die on me. Images streak across the page everything is slowly going out of focus (I've tried all of the adjustments)... So I think it's time for a new monitor - any suggestions? I'm currently pretty broke (just lost my job and I'm a full time student) so can't spend too much but would like the most bang for my buck (who doesn't?).. I want to get another CRT monitor but have had 3 monitors die on me in 5 years (I use my computer for 8 hours a day) - they all gradually faded to a greenish tint.. I can't explain it at all but don't want to experience this again.. Can I use LCDs for 8+ hours a day without killing it? Also, I'm a media studies major and a wanna be film maker - are LCDs decent for video editing? I was thinking about just going for a good quality (sony, etc.) 19" flatscreen CRT but find that they're about the same prices as entry level LCDs- is there still any reason to stay in the CRT world (I'm not a heavy gamer).. Thanks a lot for any advice!

Typically, LCDs aren't very good for motion anything. Most gamers worth their salt won't touch an LCD, and most professional video editors don't trust anything but CRTs.

As for good brands, I don't know. For a while I was championing KDS for their low/price performance, but I've gone through 4 (FOUR) 19" Trinitrons of theirs in the last year alone. Thank god they're still under warranty.
