Monitor standby problem

Hello

I have a pretty weird problem at hand. Its about my monitor refusing to go into sleep mode. I have set from Windows properties that monitor should shut down after 10 minutes of idling. But the problem is, that most of the time this is not happening.

Sometimes Windows correctly cuts off the video signal after 10min and monitor goes to sleep mode. But most of the time my monitor just stays on and it can go on hour. Its a small glitch but enought to annoy one :)

I have tried couple things, like reducing overclocking and running programs. But this behaviour just goes on :( I thought if it could be my ATI 6.11 CCC drivers? I have these programs running in the background: utorrent, live messenger, thunderbird, logitech Setpoint, firefox and folding@home. Also hibernation is not on, I just would like my system to shut down the monitor after 10mins of idling.

Have you tried to see if it will do it correctly if you have no programs running in the background?

I know you don't have windows media player running but if I have it in the background, even if whatever was playing in it has stopped my monitor won't go to sleep.

Thanks for the tip, I´ll try to set the monitor sleep time to 1min and test it with different programs.

edit:

Ok Iam pretty confused now. When I set sleep mode to 5min it works flawlessly no matter what programs are running. When sleep is set for 10min it fails to initialize sometimes. Gotta love computers for their logical behaviour :)

Need to test this bit more. One thing that years of computer usage has teched me, is that when it seems to be working, it might not :)
