I am SURE this has been asked/answered before, but I couldnt find anything when I searched. I have a Gateway EV700 and a Dell D1025TM. It is just an on and off squealing that is VERY high pitched and can be annoying, yet it doesnt do it other times. I am thinking it has something to do with the crt and the filters or electron guns inside the monitor, but I dont know how to stop it. (eventually it just stops)
 
well i am not sure what makes it go squeaky or make a whining noise like mine did, but all i know is if you hit it hard enough it goes!
seriously i had to hit the bastard really hard on top to make it stop whining.
anyway in the end i just got it replaced on the warranty, then the replacement started to go funny and i had a slight browing which greatly pissed me off, now i have another replacement and a nice fresh warranty on top of it everything is fine.

i suggest you just call for a replacement if warranty is still valid.
