Monitor sizes are messed up!

I'm having a major problem with my NEC AS900 and online chat tech support has not helped me. I have had this monitor for about a month now and the size settings just dont save. After I restart the computer or the monitor the size will stretch or the position will go to the left or right making have to adjust it again. I have formatted my HD twice already and it still does it, so I don't know if it's a software problem. Thanks in advance.

You have either a problem with your video card or the driver. Download your driver again. Make sure it is for the correct operating system. Then follow exactly the installation instructions. Then go to Control Panel -> Display -> Settings and reset to 1024 by 768 by sliding the resolution switch ( or 800 x 600, or other resolution of your choice..

If it still happens, trade video cards with somebody. If it still happens with another video card, get on the phone with NEC.

You almost never see problems like this with an NEC, so I think your difficulties are elsewhere... such as drivers or SVGA.

It's the monitor. I've had 2 NEC monitors give me the same such problem, on different computers. Sizes would be inconsistent and or the position would suddenly jerk an inch to the left after a re-sizing. I never found a cure for it, aside from forcing myself to get used to my screen not being centered and large enough.

Sorry I should have stated that I had this same problem when I had intel integrated graphics. I got a 9800 pro, then I formatted and installed the official 4.2 cats. Same problem...

It's definitely the monitor - normally there's some buttons on it (or a menu option) that saves the screen position. Have you tried this at all? If that doesn't keep the position after a restart then you'd need to speak to NEC

Monitor. To make sure about your monitor's abilities, I read the owners manual on NEC's web site. Your monitor has a full set of OSD menus which can be set via the monitor's front panel buttons. These settings are stored in the monitor itself, not your PC. You could even set them without attaching the monitor to your PC!

You probably figured out the monitor is faulty by your own testing; turning the monitor off then on again without restarting your PC will cause the problem to reoccur.

Good luck!
