I installed Red Hat Linux 7.2 on my system recently. During the installation process it detected and probed my ATI Radeon and monitor correctly. On the test screen ("Can you see this text message" Yes/No) I clicked "Yes" and my monitor shut off. I hit the monitor's power button off and on... no go. I hit cntrl-alt-del, the machine rebooted, the monitor came back on, and all appeared well. I logged in as root to try to reconfigure (via typing "setup" for a text based setup) and the same thing happened. I tried very timid monitor settings 1024X768@60 down to even 640x480 Standard VGA, but no dice.

The machine will boot to the command prompt. I can login under any user account or as root . I can startx and it'll load up just fine, but when I exit out and it tries to switch from the X-Server, my monitor shuts off and won't come back on until I reboot. What's the deal?
