monitor repair service in San Francisco?

Dear All

Can anyone recommend a good repair service for a Sony Triniton computer monitor? It is is good shape, but flickers if you bump it... and sometimes the screen goes very blurry.... this is fixed by turning the monitor off and then on again. I really love this monitor.... is about 5 years old...
I live in San Francisco

Thank you all!

Try a local TV repair place in many cases they may work on monitors too and can recomend someone who can if they can't.

Not all TV shops will have the signal generator or a pc with video output
to be able to feed a signal to the monitor. Without it a lot of monitors will
not even come on. As to your problem, if you are comfortable working inside
a monitor and know safety procedures, so you don't get a good shock, what I
would do is unplug the monitor from the AC power. Leave it for 1 day or so.
Now open it up. Since the problem occurs when you bump it, you have a Cold
Solder Connection somewhere. It will be easy to see and is usually where the
heavy components mount to the circuit board. Once you find it, unsolder it, clean
the terminal and resolder. That should do it. A TV Shop would charge about $90
to repair it, plus parts if needed.

A new 17" CRT monitor can now be had for around $100 at a B&M store. A repair won't be free and may not work for long. If it is a bad solder joint (or failing regulator) there will likely be more of the same to follow.

If you like CRT monitors, my vote goes for replacing it while they're still available.
