Monitor refresh rate

I have a Samsung 955df monitor. It is supposed to be able to do a resolution of 1280x1024 @ 80Hz. Windows XP will only allow for 75Hz or 85Hz (which it cant do). Is there a way to manually set the refresh rate to 80 Hz in windows?

if you have the drivers for the monitor installed then it will only show the refresh rates it supports (so if its showing 85hz available, then 85hz should work)

also in winxp if you go to display properties -> settings -> advanced -> monitor and uncheck the box "hide modes monitor..... " then you can usually select about any refresh rate you want

Its not the drivers, it just the way windows does refresh rates. windows will not show 80 Hz, only 85 and 75 Hz (even if the 'only show available refresh rates' box is unticked). 80 Hz is a fairly uncommon refresh rate, so i assume microsoft just left it out of the options to pick from.

if i uncheck the box i have about 8 or 9 refresh rate options (even weird ones like 72hz, etc)

your video card needs to support the refresh rate you want, and if you have the correct monitor drivers installed it will show the refresh rates your monitor supports

What monitor dirver u got installed? Is it the standard Plug and Play Monitor? Default Monitor driver? Or is it the actual Samsung Monitor Driver? Goto Samsung's website and get the newest drivers
