Monitor recommendations?

Can anyone recommend very good 17-inch and 19-inch monitors? I'm looking for a balance of price, and quality.

Thanks!

How much are you willing to spend?

I bought the 19" Sony G410R and it?s by far the best display I've ever seen/owned, though it will prolly set you back nearly $400.

I bought the 19" AOC Spectrum 9G, and it's good. It's quite cheap and it has good capabilities. The only weakness I've found is the fact that it's a little slow on changing resolutions, but that's not much of a problem.

I'm looking for a CRT, by the way. 😀 I would rather not spend more than $150 for 17" and $250 for a 19".

In that price range I'd have to recommend the Samsung 955DF 19", you should be able to find it for about $230 shipped. For a 17" I would look at the Samsung 753DF for about $160 shipped. I use Samsung monitors nearly exclusively when I build systems it?s near impossible to get a better display for the price.

Thanks! Anyone else have any differing or agreeing opinions?

Also, does anyone know if Samtron monitors are made by Samsung? And if so, are they as good?

yes, Samtron = Samsung.

If you buy from reseller via distributor, same 3 years warranty.
If you buy from nationwide retail store like Staples, Office Depot, Best Buy, etc, just 1 year warranty.

The only difference is Samsung has square button, Samtron has round button, same tube, same spec.

Samtron is for SI channel, Samsung is for retail channel.
If both don't have rebate at the time, Samtron is always cheaper than Samsung for the similar model.

I just bought a 19" flatscreen NEC Multisync 97F for $230. It'll be $180 once the rebate comes back. I was really impressed with the picture and the price. We're discussing it at the hot deals thread, so look for it to see the whole story about how to get the monitor at that price and my view on the quality.

Huh, I knew that Samtron was brand owned and manufactured by Samsung but I didn?t know the monitors were identical, interesting.

I picked up a refurb Sony G200 and have never been happier. It has a flat screen, and .24 variable dot pitch paired with the Trinitron tube makes for an amazingly sharp and vibrant picture, moreso than any other monitor I've ever owned. The only gripe with it, as with everyone else, is the awkward menu controls which are made via this rotating circle thing. I can't recommend it enough; the whites on this make those on my other monitors look drab and gray in comparison. In addition, it does up to 1600x1200 @ 75 HZ.
