Monitor randomly flashes black from time to time

Basically, my monitor will randomly flash completely black for a split second every now and then. I've only experienced this problem with this model (I've owned a Samsung 915N and 914N, never had problems, but both were also VGA only), and only with the DVI connection. When I had my 6800GT, the monitor would flash black so often that I could hardly use it.

I never really had this problem until recently. It's been attached to the computer for about a month now, and the problem has only developed in the past week and a half. I've also never had this problem with the monitor connected via the VGA cable.

Both the monitor and the graphics card are using the latest drivers. Nothing else in the system is giving me any trouble. There are no conflicts or errors in device manager. The monitor SEEMS to be refreshing itself, or something to that sort, when it flashes.

Any help is appreciated. :)

This is a known problem with the Samsung 204B or its included DVI cable. I would first try a new DVI cable, and if that doesn't fix it, then RMA the LCD.

Interesting. Thanks for the info.

Do you happen to have any links to reports about this monitor? I bought it mainly because it had a killer rebate, it was digital, AND it was bigger than my previous monitor (1600x1200 looks so much better than 1280x1024). If it's just the cable, I'll be happy. If not... :(

Yes, DVI-D is the correct cable.

I have in the past had issues with my 204B flickering, but it's not because of the LCD, it's because of the video card i have.

Make sure the cable is securely plugged in.

I find the connection on my 204B is poor at best since the DVI port seems less than tightly installed.

I have had the monitor go black a few times after bumping it since the connection was loose internally it seems.

I have had no problems with my 204B . I run it DVI with a EVGA 8800 GTX.
I also bought it on Newegg as an open box item for $225 and it came looking brand new with all cables, manuals CD's and all.
Good luck with your problem!

Me and my big mouth!!!!!!!
Well I too am haveing that damn flickering black screen now. And no its not the video card (8800 GTX) I have two of these cards and it the same with both. And it only happens in games played at 1600 x 1200. If I set it at anything less it works fine. And yes this is a known problem and Samsung is sending me a replacment.
