Hello all. Not sure how to word this in a way that makes since but here goes. Is the following monitor still considered a good monitor? My old 25.5 asus monitor died a couple of years ago and going from 1200p back down to using 2 17 inch OLD dell monitors is just not working out anymore.

I am looking to get a nice 27 inch 1080p monitor for 250 or less. The reason I am linking staples is because I got 150 dollars worth of gift cards for them from my work as a performance reward. The monitor will be used on a really old machine that does 95% work and a small amount of older gaming so trying to go for big features really isn't top priority. I am looking for a nice screen that will last a few years. I do have to read quite a lot of text for work and I do view tons of youtube from time to time which is why im looking into IPS. I considered 1440p at 27 inches but my machine will likely not handle that well and I gather that running 1440p at 1080p does not work out well.

As far as brands im a big asus fan for most of my pc related parts but if there is a good deal on other brands out there im completely open for suggestion I just want a good picture that will last with a good warranty. I appreciate any feedback or suggestions.

You may be a huge Asus fan, but how does saving $100 sound?

It's a Dell IPS.

My suggestion is to get the lowest price since you aren't looking for bells and whistles. A lot of these companies buy panels from the same source and just put their own housing on them. While I don't know if these 2 are the same, you'd have to do some serious research if you are concerned with how long it will last.

If you use the monitor regularly (daily and for hours at a time), if it's a faulty monitor, I think it would likely die in the first year which it would be covered at that point. And even if it died early but after the warranty, you have saved enough to buy almost another one!
