Monitor question.....

Currently I'm using a 17" Envision 770-e monitor. It's a flat screen that I bought 2-3 years ago. My brother just got the Envision 775-e monitor, which is the same size and model as mine except it has a black case. On his monitor, the brightness is set to 20 from a scale of 100. Mine is set at 85 and is about the same brightness as his. Is my monitor going bad? Or does my Radeon 7500 have some low gamma setting? He's using an on-board video card that isn't the greatest.

I suspect it's a combo of things as light agst black seems brighter, the Radeon can be adjusted and you may have a different OS and/or older drivers. In any event you can tweak out the settings with Powerstrip or the like.

Have you tried his monitor on your system or vice versa? Different ambient lighting conditions in the rooms they are in may make a difference in how the screen appears.
