Monitor Question

Hello!

Can a computer that has an analog video output (VGA) work with a monitor that only uses DVI? I was going to try a converter to get the DVI male from the monitor to be a VGA male and plug into the computer. Will this work?

The video card is built into the motherboard if it makes a difference.

Thanks

Ham

What is exactly this monitor that has no VGA input? Make and model number?

There are three kinds of DVI:

DVI-D (digital only)
DVI-A (analog only)
DVI-I (digital & analog)

I would think that a monitor with only a DVI input has some sort of provision to be able to interface with a VGA connector.

I hope the monitor is not an older Apple monitor. If so, it looks like there is not much that can be done:

Apple is a ghetto
