Monitor question (you'll see)

I purchased a refurbished monitor on eBay (Viewsonic p220fb). My question is as follows. If I move it around (like bump it or shake it slightly) it sounds like there is some rattling. It sounds as though there is a cage inside that is rattling back and forth. Is this normal for over-sized tube displays such as the one I bought, or so I need to send it back?

Now, I got a warranty, and seller had 100% feedback so an RMA shouldn?t be too hard to accomplish. Just want to know if I am worried over something that is typically normal.

Use your warranty privilege, and call the vendor to ask. If it's not normal, maybe you can exchange yours for one without the rattle.

Lets talk money...
1 - It works fine
2 - Warranty does not cover "bump noises"
3 - What did you pay ?
4- Normally, you pay for return shipping.?
5 - You bought this at auction...No RMA with manufactorer..No buyers remorse..
6 - Is it worth it ?

I paid just under $300 after shipping and warranty. It isnt just a "bump noise", the noise is blatant and it worries me.

Well, I'll just go out and say that I personally would not accept a monitor that arrived in that condition. I'd say contact the seller and consider your options. I personally would not be satisfied, but sometimes, you can't do much about it. Anyway, good luck! (/me is glad his eBay monitor is still going strong!)

Talk to the seller and offer your options.
1. Return the unit and have him replace it (I'm quite sure you will pay for S&H)
2. Ask his permission to open the unit and look what is rattling inside and see if it's fixable or not.
3. Return and refund your money minus the S&H (2X).

Personally, since I'm a handyman I will recommend option 2 first. If the system is working fine it could have just been a dismounted circuit board.

It sounds like either the refurb left some "spare parts" behind (a screw could have fallen into something), or something got jostled during shipping. Even if the display works now there's no guarantee it won't work in the future. It's never a good thing to have something of which you're unaware rattling around inside a piece of electronic equipment. If it's metal, it could short something out, etc.

Since you just got it, I would send it back for a replacement or refund.
