monitor proportions off

I bought a Logisys LGX710 to replace my Iiyama that blew a green gun. As soon as it fired up I noticed that all my icons in the taskbar were abnormally tall- stretched vertically. Also the font in the windows title bar. Everything else seemed ok. My settings were all the same 1024x768 32 bit. When I started using graphics apps like Photoshop or Publisher, the proportions seemed askew. So I drew a square and measured it on the screen and it is indeed a bit higher than it is wide, tho not as pronounced as the icons in the taskbar. Is this odd or what?

Have you messed around with the front panel controls yet?

A new monitor almost always requires adjustments via the front panel controls.....

Oh certainly; I tweaked the hell out of the front panel controls, and there are a lot of them. At first i thought it was because I was used to a Diamondtron tube and not a .27 dot. But I looked at a friend's KDS yesterday with a regular CRT and the taskbar buttons are all normal like I remember them.
