Monitor Problems!

Hey i have had my 19" Viewsonic P95f+ flat crt monitor for about 4 months or so and i noticed that there are two thin lines that cross the whole screen. One is close to the top of the screen and the other is closer to the bottom. They're very very thin lines and i just noticed them. There always there if you look for them. Im scared because this was a very expensive monitor, or atleats for me it was. Also if you could tell me whats happening could you also explain to me what dead pixels look like? Thanks inadvance for the replies and sorry for the long post.

Is that an Aperture Grille tube? If so, then that's perfectly normal. The vertical wires separating the RGB triplets need horizontal stabilizer wires. Small tubes have only one, at 2/3 of the height, larger ones have to at 1/3 and 2/3.

Slap it lightly (left or right side) to see what they're for - to prevent the vertical wires from oscillating.

Oh, and CRTs don't have pixels. Hence, no dead pixels either.

good- you have an aperture grill monitor aka trinitron, diamondtron
good- you now know aperture grill monitors all have 2 damperwires as a intergral part of the technology
good-

Don't feel bad. The lines are the mark of superior picture quality and clarity hehh.
They are to stabalize the aperture mask to keep it fixed in place. YES THEY ARE NORMAL AND THEY SHOULD BE THERE AND EVERY APERTURE GRILL MONITOR WILL HAVE THEM AND I HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND
